[Account Owner] Managing Your Transfer or Billing Accounts

Important: Only the Account owner will have access to billing and transfer accounts.

Managing your Transfer and Billing Account

Managing your bank accounts is done under Firm Settings > Billing and is only available to the Account Owner login.

Here you'll find your Transfer account (this is where you receive money from clients) and your Billing account (this is what you use to pay AdvicePay for your monthly subscription service).

We are able to accept any checking account associated with a U.S. bank. If you wish to use your brokerage account, please be sure ACH has been activated in order to allow debits + credits on the account!

Note: We don't support debiting or paying out funds to savings accounts! Using savings account information will result in a failed payment/payout.

You can update these accounts when necessary by clicking the Add Account button and entering in new information:

Once you click Add Account, search for your bank and continue through Stripe's process to add the account or Enter bank manually instead near the bottom left (underlined in red).

Once the bank is added the bank's last four will show as below then click Save.

After entering your new account, if there is more than one on the account, please click the drop-down menu and select  Make Default to make any payments default to this payment account. Any non-default account can also be deleted here after the new one is added.

Managing your Transfer Account when a positive attempt (payouts) has failed

There are several reasons why a payout might fail to your transfer account. A few reasons may be the account was frozen, it is inactive, there is no account to be found, or there are extra or missing numbers for the account or the routing number.

When this happens, we send an automatic email and reach out to help you fix the issue.

Here are a few things to do to fix the issue on your end through your AdvicePay account:

Step 1). Check with your bank to ensure all payments can be accepted and are enabled. Make sure that there is nothing wrong on that end with the account to receive funds. Sometimes these numbers might be needed by your bank to allow this to happen and to whitelist Stripe:

  • For receiving payments via ACH: Stripe’s ACH company IDs: WFMSTRIPE1 - Stripe Inc, and 1800948598 - Stripe Payments Company

Step 2). Ensure the account is in good standing, active, still open, and unfrozen.

Step 3). Re-add the account under Firm Settings, Billing, Transfer account. If there is only one account on file, you must first re-add the account ensuring all digits are correct, and then remove the other account (if needed). Ensure the correct account is the default.

If all of the above have been completed, and you are still unable to move forward with fixing the issue, reply to any email about the transfer account or reach out to support@adviceapay.com and we can work with you to get it fixed!

Managing your Transfer Account when a negative attempt (withdrawal) has failed

There are several reasons why a withdrawal might fail to your transfer account. A few reasons may be the account is inactive, there are extra or missing numbers for the account or the routing number, the account is frozen, or the account is not enabled for withdrawals (most common).

When this happens, we send an automatic email and reach out to help you fix the issue.

Here are a few things to do to fix the issue on your end through your AdvicePay account:

Step 1). Check with your bank to ensure withdrawals are enabled. Make sure that there is nothing wrong on that end with the account to withdraw funds. Sometimes these numbers might be needed by your bank to allow this to happen and to whitelist Stripe:

  • For making payments via ACH: 4270465600 - Stripe Inc, and 1800948598 - Stripe Payments Company

Step 2). Ensure the account is in good standing, active, still open, and unfrozen while accepting withdrawals.

Step 3). If the negative balance on the account is more than the funds available to be withdrawn and withdrawals are not allowed, it will fail. This includes covering refunds, when funds are unavailable. The only way to fix this is to have clients' funds not accumulate in the transfer account to fulfill the negative balance, or to allow withdrawals on the account. Once the withdrawal balance is no longer negative, the account with then continue with payouts as normal thereafter.

If all of the above have been completed, and you are still unable to move forward with fixing the issue, reply to any email about the transfer account or reach out to support@adviceapay.com and we can work with you to get it fixed!
